FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. — East Hampton Town Kiwanis and the Montauk Friends of Erin in partnership with Mercury Marine announce the Fourteenth Annual Montauk Mercury Grand Slam fishing tournament to take place in Montauk Harbor on July 18th and 19th, 2015, at Uihlein's Marina.

This two-day tournament has tripled in size from the first year, with the hope of continued growth again this year. This tournament, with the support of many large sponsors, also now features a large display of boats representing the various sponsors. All sponsors' products will be on display the week of the tournament.

It is a one-of-a-kind in-shore event keyed to catching the largest grouping of four species: sea bass, striped base, fluke and bluefish. Individual catches will be judged as well.

This year's tournament will consist of three Divisions: Private Recreational, Charter Boats, and Party/Open Boats.

The grand prize in the Private Recreational Division will be a Mercury 150-horsepower 4 stroke engine valued at more than $13,000.

The first place prize in the Professional division will be a cash award of $3,000.00.

The first place winner in the Party/Open Boat division will be presented a cash prize of $300.00 and the coveted Angler's Award.

Individual anglers in any of the Private and Charter Boat Divisions will win a cash prize for the largest catch of any of the four Grand Slam species. Privately run calcutta: $100.00 per species.

Individual anglers in the Party Boat Division will win a cash prize of $100.00 for the largest catch in any of the four Grand Slam species.

All Children will receive a plaque sponsored by Cablevision.

All children under the age of 14 that catch any of the four species will be automatically entered into a raffle to win an 11-foot Mercury inflatable boat with an outboard motor.

Founded in 1985, East Hampton Kiwanis is an organization dedicated to children's issues and community needs throughout the Town of East Hampton. Efforts supported by this organization include: Toys for Tots, college scholarships and senior citizen programs, Meals on Wheels and local youth projects such as the Town RECenter.

The Montauk Friends of Erin is a civic organization founded in 1962. In addition to producing the second largest St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York State each year, this organization offers various sports and scholastic sponsorships.

Title sponsor for the seventh year is Mercury Marine, the world leader in fuel-efficient, low emissions marine propulsion. Mercury's generosity continues as it dedicates increasing manpower and products for special fishing events in the Montauk area, related to children's causes and charities.

"We're deeply committed to the efforts like those of the East Hampton Kiwanis who actively support children's issues," said Dave Becker, Mercury Marine spokesman. "Special fishing events like this bring more awareness to the many Kiwanis projects and the hard work of these volunteers serving the children of the world."

Proceeds from this event will benefit the charitable efforts of both East Hampton Kiwanis and Montauk Friends of Erin.
